MG Vintage Racers' "Spirit Award" at Watkins Glen
The MG Vintage Racers award their prestigious "Spirit Award" - also known as "The Big Copper Bucket" - every year at their "Focus Event" which they stage at a selected vintage race. This year it was at SVRA's "Zippo Vintage Grand Prix" at Watkins Glen in September, with its supporting two "Collier Cup" all MG races - where a record breaking 143 MGs showed up to dice it out!
The award's winner is selected as someone at the event best representing "The Spirit of MG Vintage Racing". All past winners have been MG racers, but this year two special non-racers were chosen for this honor. Walter and Lu Pietrowicz were presented with the award at at MGVR's dinner Friday night at the track. They were extremely surprised, and delighted to receive it. For years now, they have come to MG and vintage race events, and photographed them. Great photos, caputuring MGs in racing action - and other related activities - which they have most generously shared with the MG racers - especially through MGVR's newsletter. Wonderful professional photography! Plus their web site - "september8th.com" has many of their MG racing photos on display, and they also post information from MGVR on it. Walt and Lu truly love vintage racing, and are friends with many of the MG racers. They have attend MGVR's Focus Event functions over the years. MGVR feels they have the "right vintage spirit" supporting MG vintage racing - Congratulations to both of them!
