Press Release July 8, 2008
****************************************************** “Wheels & Warbirds”Bonanza This SeptemberThis special weekend has it ALL! Vintage race cars; SCCA race cars; WWII air show; Vintage car show; Air museum; Vintage bands; and MORE! It started with the “Vintage Racer Group” scheduling a vintage race weekend – featuring MG – at the country’s newest racetrack: New Jersey Motorsport Park in Millville, NJ - about 30 miles west of Atlantic City - the weekend of September 19-21. The MG Vintage Racers designated it as their east coast “Focus Event ”, and now upwards of 100 racing MG - of all ages and types - are expected to compete at it, complementing the many other vintage race cars! Just to make it more interesting, there will be an “MG- Allard Challenge” at the track, as it is also an “Allard Reunion”. This park has TWO race tracks, and the SCCA will be racing on the other one the same weekend – double the fun! The track is adjacent to the Millville Airport, which will hold a “Vintage Air Show” this weekend, featuring over 30 WWII aircraft, both on display and flying! P-47 Thunderbolts, P-51 Mustangs, Spitfires, and more! Complement that with the Millville Army Airforce Museum at the airport. Not enough – throw in a HUGH car show at the race track on both Saturday and Sunday, where over 250 domestic and foreign cars – pre 1980 – are expected to attend each day (enter yours!). Live 50s & 60s bands will ROCK the place Saturday evening! This will truly be a three ring spectacular – not to mention all the vacation opportunities in the area – like Atlantic City, the Jersey Shore, Cape May, and the Millville historic district. Just one word of caution – book rooms early, as some motels are sold out already. This is a spectator event – plus RV & camping are available at the track. Check with organizers for prices. A rare weekend not to be missed!
